Thesis preparation |
| 1 | Complete your written thesis and organize / format your thesis according to FBE thesis formatting guidelines. |
| 2 | Share the thesis document with your jury members. |

Plagiarism check |
| 3 | Sign up to Turnitin with your @boun e-mail address. |
| 4 | Request a Turnitin Class ID and Password from fbe@bogazici.edu.tr. Please request this information with your @boun e-mail address and provide your full name and Student ID. |
| 5 | Remove the Special Pages from your thesis (i.e.all pages before the main text: Title Page, Signature page, Table of Contents, Abstract, etc.) |
| 6 | Upload the PDF or Word document to the Turnitin classroom that was assigned to you. Generation of the Similarity Report may take between 1-24 hours, depending on the complexity of your document. Check the similarity rate, ≤ 20% similarity is a good aim). |
| 7a | If there is similarity between your own articles/previous uploads, send supportiung documents to fbe.thesis@bogazici.edu.tr to exclude these documents from the similarity score. |
| 7b | IIf you are not content with the similarity rate, arrange/edit your thesis and re-upload to Turnitin. |
| 7c | If you are content with the similarity rate, send the Turnitin Report to your jury members. |
| 8a | If the jury approves your report and does not see indications of plagiarism, you can continue with your thesis defense. |
| 8b | If the jury sees indication of plagiarism, a report will be filed and an investigation will be initiated. |
| 9 | Print out the Similarity Info section (not the detailed report that contains your thesis text) of the Turnitin Report and present it to your jury members for signature. |

Thesis defense |
| 10 | Defend your thesis in front of the jury members. |
| 11a | After successfully completing your thesis defense, the Thesis Defense Report (Tutanak) and a Graduation Letter should be send to FBE, together with the signed Similarity Info section of the Turnitin Report. (It is sufficient for the Advisor to sign the Turnitin Report). |
| 11b | For PhD students, an additional PhD Thesis Report (signed by all jury members) needs to be send to FBE. |

Thesis Format check |
| 12 | All theses have to undergo an online format check before being presented as a hard copy to FBE. Please ensure that your thesis complies with FBE formatting guidelines, complete and sign the Thesis Formatting Checklist, and email the checklist together with your thesis as PDF documents to fbe.thesis@boun.edu.tr. Make sure that your Thesis Defense Report (and PhD Thesis Report for PhD students) has (have) been received by FBE. Theses for which reports or the checklist are missing will not be processed. |
| 13a | If corrections are necessary, the thesis will be returned to you with editing comments. |
| 13b | Correct formatting errors and resubmit your thesis to fbe.thesis@bogazici.edu.tr for another round of online evaluation. Please be aware that repeated submissions and format checks will significantly delay your graduation. |
| 13c | If no (further) corrections are necessary, you will be invited to present a hard copy for inspection to the FBE office. |
E - |
Graduation |
| 14 | After completion of the online format check, submit a single hard copy to the FBE office for physical inspection of your thesis by the FBE Executive Board. Additional corrections may be requested during this process. |
| 15 | When submitting the hard copy of your thesis to FBE, also provide two signed Thesis Data Entry Forms (from the YÖK website), two CDs (containing electronic files of 1.) the Thesis, 2.) the Thesis Data Entry Form, and 3.) necessary Attachments (Codes/Scripts etc.). Please see the Documents required for graduation page for additional details on required documents and how to organize the CD. |
